Are Artists Psychic?

DEAR JEANETTE: Are most artists psychic? It seems to me that many of them that I know have some talents of this kind even though they may not be consciously using them.

DEAR : Almost everyone has some psychic abilities although most have not developed them, partially because they have not believed in such things, at least not for themselves. As people come to know more of these talents, many will gradually find their own developing automatically.

Also most people have some kind of creative ability but many do not realize that either. Those who have accepted their own creativity have already opened themselves up a bit more than the general public to that inner beingness.

This “opening up” will often bring with it into the open some of the psychic talents as well as the creativity. Whether or not the artist recognizes the psychic side will probably depend upon the cultural and religious background and the specific interests with which the thoughts are occupied at that time.

Very often the artistic ability itself will be a psychic phenomenon. When any talent comes naturally and easily, it has very likely been developed during a past lifetime and only needs to be awakened in this one. It is seldom that a person can become an “expert” in any field in just one lifetime.

Much of the inspiration for pictures and the interest in particular subject matter will come from previous experiences as well as the ability to use certain kinds of media, i.e., oils, watercolors, etc. Sometimes pictures that are drawn from “imagination” rather than from the actual scene, photographs, etc., are pastlife memories.

An artist whose principle subject matter pertains to the ocean, may very well have been a sea-faring man previously (not necessarily in the very last lifetime) and carries this interest over into this life when the emphasis is on developing the artistic abilities rather than the more active experience of a sailor.

You see, the soul does not develop in only one line or type of ability. While each soul evidently does not have to become a “master” in every line of endeavor, each one will have experiences in most fields with major development in only a few fields. This development -- of a major sort -- will often be in only ONE area in a particular lifetime. This does not mean that your soul will be “lop-sided”. Only that it will have other experiences through other of its incarnates.

As you begin to explore your own past lives, you may have to look for some time before you find those dealing with other things. The lifetimes that are most meaningful to this one are the ones you will see first and those that deal with the talent you are developing this time will therefore be the most meaningful and among the first seen.
