Body-Sitters

DEAR JEANETTE: My aunt is ill in another city, yet I feel her presence here with me. Do you think a body-sitter is being used to allow her spirit to be here with me? M.C., L.R.,AR.

DEAR M.C.: The evidence is strong for the existence of body-sitters during the development of a fetus when the proper spirit is not yet able to take over the job. Such instances are relatively rare however.

The same arrangement could be used for adults if this became necessary but it seldom is. By the time a person has reached adulthood, most of us are able to function on two or three levels of the mind at one time even though we may not be aware that we are doing so.

Mothers provide a very good illustration of this dual or even triple functioning. A mother can be busily engaged in stirring up a cake and visiting with you. This would seem to require total concentration, but let the sounds change from the next room where the children are playing and she will be instantly aware of it and know what it means. She is also probably keeping track of some older children and knows exactly how long it will be until her husband’s car drives in.

You have seen similar types of mental agility in many job situations. When you look at your own life and that of others you will find many examples. This is especially true if one or more of the things is quite routine and therefore requires very little conscious mental effort.

In my opinion, this is what your aunt is doing. Since she is ill and in the hospital, very little conscious effort is required of her. This allows a part of her mind to be free to ‘come to visit’ with you. Time and space have a much different meaning on the mental level than they do on the physical level.

These kinds of traveling are not at all uncommon as most of us spend much of the night in some such activity (mental or astral projection) but do not bring the memory of it back to consciousness. Also many very ill persons, as well as those who are in comas or are senile, spend a large part of their time in mental or astral travel as a preparation for the time when they will cross over from the incarnate to the discarnate side of living. This makes it much easier for them when the time comes for them to shed the body which they have been using throughout the current lifetime.

Now I want to emphasize that the fact that your aunt is traveling in this way does not necessarily mean that she is going to ‘die’. Many people do this routinely when their minds are not fully occupied. If you have some interesting experiences in communication with her, let me hear from you again. Other readers should also feel free to let me know about such experiences. I cannot acknowledge each letter individually but interesting information for future columns might be accumulated.
