What or Where is Mu?
DEAR JEANETTE: What or where is Mu? T.P., Emmons,ND
DEAR T.P.: Mu is the name given by James Churchward to the fabled lost continent of the Pacific. Please keep in mind that all that I will say about it is theoretical or psychically received.
Churchward, who died in the early ‘30’s, claimed to have studied with a rishi in India who had taught him the ancient language of Mu. He later spent many years traveling all over the world to get evidence concerning this ancient civilization.
His findings were condensed into five books which were reissued in 1968 by Paperback Library of New York. The continent as Churchward envisioned it was somewhat smaller than the Lemuria seen by E.D. Blavatsky and accepted by Theosophists to be in the same area. Nevertheless they were undoubtedly one and the same place.
According to Churchward the population and civilization of this long lost land reached a point where colonization was begun and they spread through the world. This included the other fabled continent of Atlantis in the Atlantic, as well as Egypt, and most other ancient lands. This places these ‘legends’ in direct conflict with those which say that Egypt and similar ‘colonies’ came from Atlantis.
Many of the same clues are used to prove both points. These mainly include various similarities. The clues would, indeed, seem to point to some such common origin but which is correct, Mu or Atlantis, cannot at this point be proved. Some have suggested that both are in essence correct with it all having started in Mu and moved through Atlantis. Perhaps someday one or both of the ‘lost’ continents will be located and artifacts found which can be scientifically dated.
In the meantime, pastlife readings and recall sessions have brought us very little evidence of influence from Mu. By contrast, there are many people incarnate today who have influences in the present life which stem from corresponding lives during the time of Atlantis. This would indicate that Mu has little karmic connection with our civilization today.
Just as a matter of curiosity, the speculations regarding these ancient continents are worth reading about. If you have the time to make a comparative study of the claims for both Mu and Atlantis, you would undoubtedly find it interesting and probably learn a great deal of ‘factual’ history as a bonus. The investigations would take you throughout all the continents known to us today with studies of their languages, art, religions, customs, clothing, foods, etc. You can get quite a liberal education in today’s cultural backgrounds while studying these two ‘fables’.
