DEAR JEANETTE: How dangerous are Ouija boards?
DEAR : Ouija boards, automatic writing, and all other forms of communication with the spirit world in which your mind or any part of your body is controlled by an entity from the spirit world (an excarnate) can be extremely dangerous. Without the protection of God to safeguard you, such control can lead to possession which is much more common on a minor level than most people realize.
My advice for several years has been to use such “tools” only after turning to God in prayer for guidance and protection. The motivation and inner attitude with which you approach the project are also very important. “Pure curiosity”, as many people put it, is a legitimate reason. Often times our curiosity is aroused by our guides in order to get us to investigate something which it has become time for us to learn. Curiosity and open-minded skepticism are sometimes used as the entry points for good information and planting of seeds of new interests.
One of the most dangerous motives is a desire to “go slumming” in the astral world. Whether or not you have ever done it, you probably know of people who have visited the slum area of a large city just to see how “those people” live. That is risky on earth! It is much more so on the astral.
Since they are invisible, you may not even know when “those people” are around you, yet your intentions are known to them and are just like a green light, inviting them to share your body with you. In visiting any foreign country you need to study their customs in order not to offend or give an impression which is different from that which you intend to give. The astral level is a foreign country to you!
Good motives and intentions will not alone provide the protection which you need. This was brought forcefully to my attention by an incident which I want to share with you by way of warning.
A mother came to our healing center seeking help for her 35 year old son who had been suffering from schizophrenia for several years and was presently having an especially devastating bout with the illness. It had wrecked his home, his job, many of his previous friendships, etc. At this point his fears had become so great that he had virtually stopped eating or sleeping and the family was of course quite concerned.
Psychic investigation revealed that he had at one time, several years before his symptoms became noticeable, helped with a drug study program for scientific reasons. His motive was excellent, but he and those conducting the study were unaware of the need for Divine protection and left themselves wide open for this trouble. Under the influence of the drug, the young man was “opened” psychically, meaning that he was able to make contact with spirits who are usually invisible to incarnates.
This opening was used by an evil spirit to enter and attach himself to this young man. The strength of the spirit was such that its presence changed the personality of the incarnate and resulted in a medical diagnosis of mental illness. (We performed an exorcism -- but please do not think of it in terms of that movie! -- and believe we have “cured” him but we have not yet gotten a report from his home which is thousands of miles from here.)
My space is gone for today but please remember that opening to the psychic without God’s protection could have the same results. Do be careful! For a place to start, here is the prayer I use.
