Reincarnation in Both Sexes
DEAR JEANETTE: I don’t like the idea that we have to reincarnate as both men and women. G. I., Hayden, ID.
DEAR G.I.: This would seem to be the only way that we can get a balanced picture and become balanced in our own soul growth.
Our purpose on the earth is to put into practice God’s natural laws (spiritual and physical). But in order to be able to enter into a flesh body----incarnate---we must separate the masculine and the feminine forces in the soul.
In the spiritual, the masculine is considered to be the active part, the ‘doing’ part of the soul. This is why many people like to pray to “Father-Mother God” since God most certainly is both doing and being. (Since the creation was a part of the ‘doing’, we have, among Judeo-Christians at least, become more familiar with the “father” portion of God.)
However, it is not as simple as using the masculine characteristics during a male lifetime and the feminine during a female life. Each soul must learn to mix, in varying degrees, the characteristics from both male and female in various earth situations.
It is important to remember that all things that are learned or done while on earth become a part of the soul’s knowledge. Thus all that is learned by doing while a male becomes a part of the soul and adds to that which it is---it’s beingness---which can be expressed and strengthened during a feminine lifetime. This then sets the stage for ‘doing’ more in yet another experience.
In practice we usually have cycles of lifetimes in the feminine and the masculine, especially when the soul is just beginning to gather experience. The more advanced soul can make the transition from female to male and vice versa much more easily and may make such changes frequently if there is some reason to do so.
Also the older soul learns to ‘meld’ or combine the characteristics from both the male and the female together. This is not meant in a physical sense, but rather in personality traits such as the gentleness and love which can be expressed by a very strong man without in any way seeming feminine.
On the other hand, a woman may be very feminine yet be capable of understanding the mathematical and scientific concepts usually considered to be in the masculine domain.
So experiences as both male and female are necessary to our soul development regardless of our personal preferences.
