The Festivals of Spring
DEAR JEANETTE: What is the Wesak Festival? D.F., St. Charles, MO.
DEAR D.F.: The Festival of Wesak is the middle of the three Full Moon Festivals that are increasingly being observed around the world as a part of the preparation for religion as it will be observed in the New Age.
So let me use four columns for best answering our question. Today I will describe each Festival briefly then in following ones give more detail.
"1. The Festival of Easter. This is the Festival of the risen, living Christ, the expression of the Love of God. On this day the Assembly of our Elder Brothers, the spiritual Hierarchy, which He guides and directs, is being increasingly recognized, and the resurrecting, uplifting nature of God's love is being emphasized. This Festival, determined always by the first full moon of spring, the full Moon of Aries, is the great Western and Christian Festival.
"2. The Festival of Wesak. This is the Festival of the Buddha, the intermediary between the highest spiritual center on our planet, 'the center where the Will of God is known', and the Hierarchy. The Buddha is the expression of the Wisdom of God, the embodiment of Light, and the indicator of the divine Purpose. This Festival, fixed annually in relation to the Full Moon of Taurus (usually occurring in May), is the great Eastern Festival.
"3. The Festival of Humanity. This is the Festival of the lighted, loving spirit of humanity -- aspiring toward God, seeking harmony with the will of God, and dedicated to the expression of right human relations. Its date is fixed annually in relation to the Full Moon of Gemini (usually occurring in June). It will be a day whereon the spiritual and divine nature of mankind will be recognized, as well as the part men have to play in the unfoldment of the divine Plan." These three form a triangle of Energies---Father, Son, and Mother, or Will, Love-Wisdom, and Light. The other Full Moons also are meaningful. They help to establish the divine qualities in mankind as these three establish the above named Energies.
One of the most important points is to realize that these Festivals will link the Eastern-Western. the Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian, in a way that has not been done before. Finally, in the New Age, we will see a combined picture of the cumulative way in which God has been revealed to humanity. Perhaps you can find a group celebrating these Festivals in your community
